CAMP PREVIEW
The Spinervals Cycling Camp will challenge the most experienced rider and is designed to be a 'breakthrough block' of training for advancing fitness. Riders are recommended to come to camp with at least three months of steady base miles, totaling over 2000 (or just over 150 miles per week), if not more. Only road bikes are permitted for this camp… no tri bikes and no aero bars. We'll be targeting a number of energy systems with 'aerobic endurance', 'tempo' and 'threshold' training. When finished with this 5-day block of training, you'll be fatigued and worn down, ready to recover and take your fitness to the next level. PLEASE NOTE: There will be opportunities for triathletes to swim and run during this camp.
CAMP QUALIFYING STANDARDS
This camp is intended for the advanced competitive triathlete or cyclist with a high level of conditioning and riding experience. Camp size is limited to 20 athletes to insure the safety and effectiveness of each training session. To qualify to attend this camp, riders must demonstrate their ability to meet certain standards in training or in competition in order to insure a safe and effective training camp environment for everyone.
The minimum average riding speed for this camp will be 18 mph over rolling terrain for at least 3 hours. We'll have two different groups, an 'A' Group of riders averaging over 20mph and a 'B' Group of riders averaging between 18-20 mph. Rides are fully supported with a SAG vehicle and coaches on the bike too. Attendees for this camp are expected to be 'elite age groupers' and are expected to be able to finish in at least the top 10% of their age group and 20% overall for their respective gender in regional caliber events (triathlon or cycling) over the past two years and must be able to cite these results when submitting their application to attend. Other means of demonstrating one's fitness will also be accepted, including Functional Threshold Power Results when doing a power test related to bodyweight such as that found in Spinervals 27.0 -- Threshold Test & Suffer Fest. If you do not meet these minimum performance standards at the time of camp in March, please do not apply to attend in consideration for your personal health and safety.
